Our (now famous!) Helesia Carolina (snowdrop tree) |
I mentioned a few weeks ago that we had been invited to attend a recording of BBC Radio 4's Gardeners Question Time when they visited Stoke. Well, it was broadcast today, and Nigel's question made the final edit! This is the ancient tree we wanted some advice on, our Helesia Carolina, commonly know as the snowdrop tree. It looks decidedly ropey as you can see from the picture, but I promise you in April/May-time it is festooned with little white bell-shaped flowers that as panel member Chris Beardshaw pointed out look out of place on a tree.
If you would like to listen to the broadcast, and find our what hris Beardshaw and Bunny Guiness had to say to us, it will be available on the BBC Sounds app:
www.bbc.co.uk/sounds/play/m00036l6
for a few weeks.
As the GQT chair, Eric Robson says at the end of each programme, "Good day, and good gardening!"
